Ikebana is a traditional Japanese art of flower arranging with live materials. We use flowers and leaves to emphasize the beauty of nature in the arrangement. It’s a form of self expression reflecting the beauty of flowers.

A sewing/quilting no pattern project that can be hand or machined stitched. Each person will design their own project with help or guidance from me. The finished look can be hung, laid over the back of a chair, used as a table runner or used anywhere that needs a little charge of color. This a very fun, rewarding experience. We start by picking a fabric focal point to establish a theme and colors. A $55.00 class fee payable to the instructor at the first class includes fabrics, batting, backing, yarns, strings, fusor, ironing board & iron access, and in process demos. You are welcome to bring your sewing machine to class or do all sewing at home. It promises to be FUN!

The Wonderful World of Scratchboard, Sheryl Unwin 2026

Scratchboard is a fine art form that uses a surface covered with white clay and then a layer of black India ink. In class we will explore the different tools to remove the black ink to bring your image come to life. The student may choose to keep their boards black and white or proceed to colorize them. In class we will explore the different mediums used to colorize your scratchboards.

The best of both worlds! Water-soluble colored pencils combine the precision and control of drawing with the fluid freedom of paint. Explore the many ways to use these versatile pencils wet or dry, alone or for mixed media. Great for sketching or serious artwork, they even mix well with pen and ink and traditional watercolor. Some paper is provided; bring your own pencils or borrow class sets.

Fine line markers are not just for tight details they’re great for quick sketches. Let go of perfectionism and go with the flow of ink! Add color with a few colored pencils, watercolor pencils, pastels or paints for fresh and lively artwork or filling a journal. Forget erasing and fixing, just loosen up and have fun drawing! Each student gets a fine line marker. (Weather permitting, we’ll draw outside too.)

Get up to speed with this ideal medium for fine art versatile, clean and easy to master. Beginners will learn basic techniques and apply them to a project (references provided); experienced artists can get guidance on completing their own projects. Various pencil sets will be available for use in class along with other tools. Sample papers are included. Watercolor pencils are also welcome.
