Planned Giving: Your Life is Your Masterpiece …

legacy planning_p1We’ll help ensure it lasts

There are many ways to make a difference in the world when you’re gone. Bequests of money, insurance and property are common. But what if you could also leave your love and passion for the visual arts as your legacy, to share with and inspire future generations?

What would that look like? Would it be a scholarship for a child or adult, an exhibit for an emerging artist or group of artists? Would it be a piece of equipment that would make a class possible? Perhaps a studio or even a building that honors what you love, or someone you love?

How would you like to be remembered?

At Herrig Center for the Arts, we’re committed to bringing the visual arts to future as well as current generations. As a nonprofit arts center, we know that takes money. It also takes passion, spirit and commitment. Thanks to you, Herrig Center for the Arts has been transforming lives for over 80 years. We’ve grown to what you see today.

What will we look like tomorrow?

When you leave a part of your estate to Herrig Center for the Arts, you help to make that decision. More than 80 percent of Americans contribute to the nonprofit groups of their choice throughout their lifetimes. But according to research, only around eight percent chose to continue this support through a charitable bequest. By making a bequest or other charitable gift, you can make an important difference in the lives of individuals and in the life of our community.

Art Matters to me as a fine art photographer living in downtown Bradenton and I think of Herrig Center for the Arts as the vibrant heart and soul of this community. It represents the dimensional nature of its members and the county at large. What I love most is the Center’s friendly, relaxed and dynamic atmosphere. There are ongoing classes galore for all ages & stages and an affordable gift shop with one-of-a-kind treasures. There are opportunities to submit your artwork for themed exhibits, whether you are a member or not. Thank you to the entire staff for your welcoming
spirit, tireless efforts and success!
Lin Oakerson, Fine Art Photographer

Art matters because it teaches you so much more than making art. It is more than the product of your efforts. Creating art builds confidence. When you paint for the pure joy of it rather than striving for a pre-conceived product you will amaze yourself. Art should be about feeling, life, attitude and soul. Making art teaches you to think and problem-solve, to trust your instincts, to live in the moment, and to go with the flow. Art will make you love your life.
Carolyn Ritter, Artist & Teacher

Art matters because it allows us to document our perceptions and emotions of the things around us,
whether it’s through a photo, a painting or something else.
We are all artists.
Debbie Collins, Painter

Art has the power to heal. It gives me a way of voicing emotions that can be too difficult to share in other ways. When I paint, the brush strokes are wide and sweeping, the colors are bold. The anger, impatience and frustration I experience as a caregiver are moved to the paper and are released from me. I feel free and I find that I can be more loving to my partner. Thanks Art Center.
Dorothy S.

When I come to the ArtCenter, I feel happy. People know my name and care about me as a person. The classes can be challenging but they give me a goal – to keep trying, to keep creating. The other students are great. We are learning together and the atmosphere is very supportive
and encouraging. This place saved me really.
Carl P.

How can you give?

There are many ways to give to Herrig Center for the Arts. Wills, charitable bequests, real estate and insurance are just a few. We’ve prepared a summary for your review and invite you to call or meet with us if you’d like more information.

The 2% Solution

Enough to go around? We know some are concerned about having enough to give to the ArtCenter as well as to their beneficiaries. In response, we developed the 2% Solution. If your estate is valued at $1,000,000 and you have two beneficiaries, if you give 50% equally to your two beneficiaries, each would receive $500,000. If you first give 2%, or $20,000, to the ArtCenter, then split the balance equally between your two beneficiaries, each would receive $490,000. Everyone benefits. For more examples, click here.
