Sheryl Unwin

Unwin

I am originally from Massachusetts and grew up in a beautiful town 30 miles north of Boston, now living in North Port, Florida. My interest in the arts started at a very young age, and by the time I was 13 and a freshman at Billerica Memorial High School I decided that being an artist was going to be my career of choice. I have been Illustrating portraits of various subjects for well over 20 years.

I attended the Art Institute of Boston in 1984 and studied Illustration with a minor in Graphic Design, hoping to become a successful Magazine Illustrator. Back then, my artistic path took me down the road of printing and mechanical drawing. I worked at various printing companies from 1984 to 1997. Even though my path as an artist seemed to change to graphic design it has never stopped my passion to draw and illustrate the subjects that I love which are people, wildlife and pets.

I lived in Great Britain for eight fantastic years and loved the vast amount of culture, arts, nature, and the fabulous countryside. Then in 2005 we moved to the US and have been enjoying the beauty of Florida living, culture, wildlife and fabulous scenery that only the Gulf Coast of Florida can give to you each and every day.

Today my passion for animals and nature has taken me to create color and graphite pencil drawings of some of my most favorite subjects. I will draw from the largest of wildlife creatures to the smallest of domestic pets. This has become my passion and interest of choice but I still love to do Portraits of people as well.

Elise Manieri

by acm_admin

Elise Manieri specializes in abstract, mixed media and collage art.  As a newcomer to Florida in 2017, she renewed her interest in art and picked up a paint brush following a long hiatus, inspired by the contemporary art scene in Sarasota and a trip to Santa Fe.

Elise had an exemplary career as a Realtor and corporate trainer in Pennsylvania. She had previously studied in the master program in Art & Design at the Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science (now Philadelphia University) while raising two children.

“My artwork is about visual exploration and experimentation; an assemblage of color, texture, and line work.  It is reminiscent of my childhood home filled with colorful handwoven fabrics and rugs, 3D wall hangings, yarns and ceramics made by my mother, a renowned hand weaver and instructor at the MD Institute College of Art.  I’m drawn to the mystery of abstract art, its ever changing nature and the freedom of expression it permits.”

Elise is an active contributor to local art shows and has received several awards from Herrig Center for the Arts and Art Center Sarasota. Please visit her website at: elisemanieriart.com

Janet Flickinger

FLICKINGER PHOTO Janet Flickinger

Flickinger Design Studio
While attending collage Janet worked as an architectural model builder. It is at this time that she fell in love with the symmetry of architecture. In 1982 Janet graduated from the Art Institute of Houston with honors. She subsequently continued for the next ten years in graphic design and illustration. In 1993 she founded Flickinger Design Studio.

It is at this time that Janet’s passion for drawing and painting people really began to flourish. Her style can be characterized as (social or photo realism) with a high technical and detailed structure. Her style goes beyond what the naked eye can ordinarily comprehend and combines the fluidness of the human figure with the structure of architecture. Her passion now is to capture the essence of everyday life as it exists.

Janet loves the emphasis on common life as it occurs with the detail of architecture. Janet loves to capture the interaction of people as they conduct their everyday pursuits of life. As one examines her work they will begin to observe life through the perspective of her eyes. Janet is more drawn to recording history rather than creating decorative art.
