Mastering Watercolor, Helen Solomon 2026-2027

This watercolor class is designed for intermediate and advanced artists ready to refine their skills and deepen their understanding of the medium. Students will explore advanced techniques such as glazing, layering, wet-into-wet applications, negative painting, color harmony, and creating atmosphere and depth. Emphasis is placed on composition, value relationships, and the development of a personal artistic style. Through demonstrations, guided exercises, and individualized instruction, participants will tackle a variety of subjects, including expressive compositions. The class encourages experimentation, creative problem-solving, and confident brushwork while providing constructive feedback to help artists reach new levels.

Playing & Exploring Watercolors, Helen Solomon 2026-2027

This beginner watercolor class introduces students to the fundamental techniques and materials needed to create beautiful paintings with confidence. Participants will learn color mixing, brush handling, washes, wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques, and basic composition. Through step-by-step demonstrations and guided practice, students will explore how to paint simple subjects such as flowers, landscapes, and still-life arrangements, with references provided by the instructor. Emphasis is placed on developing observation skills, understanding light and color, and enjoying the creative process. No prior experience is required. The class provides a supportive, relaxed environment where students can experiment, build skills, and express their artistic vision.

Designed for potters of all experience levels, this skill-building course focuses on the development of wheel-thrown cylinders, including cups, tumblers, vases, and utensil holders. Each class guides students through the process of strengthening core throwing skills, refining proportions and shape, experimenting with surface decoration, and enhancing finished work through thoughtful glazing techniques. Whether you are learning to center clay and pull consistent walls or seeking greater precision and artistic expression, this course provides opportunities for growth at every stage. This vessel-focused class is the first in an ongoing series dedicated to mastering specific ceramic forms, helping students build both technical skill and a deeper understanding of design, function, and craftsmanship. This beginner class is designed to help you explore your creativity while learning techniques such as pinch pots, coils and slab building. Together, we’ll create unique handmade pieces in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. No previous experience is needed-just bring your curiosity to create. Learn the basics of pottery on the wheel in a fun and supportive environment. This beginner-friendly class introduces the fundamental techniques of centering clay, opening, pulling walls, and shaping simple forms such as bowls and cups. Participants will also learn basic trimming and finishing techniques while developing confidence and control on the pottery wheel. No prior experience is necessary. Please purchase a basic tool kit prior to class (available at front desk). Class includes 25lbs. of clay, firing, and in-studio glazing.
