This is a class for the young artist. The class is focusing on all aspects of art. We will train the eye how to see as it related to direction of line, curves, form, shape, contrast, etc. We will learn how to look at something and draw it exactly. All projects will be finished in pencil, color pencil, or watercolor. Once the basics are learned, we will focus on design and composition. Students are to bring pictures they want to draw. All art supplies for this class are provided.

Participants will delve into the intricacies of canvas preparation and the art of transferring their own references onto the canvas from personal photos or from freely available online resources. This intermediate/advanced class offers a comprehensive study of various acrylic techniques, aesthetic concepts, and mediums. Participants will relish three hours of studio time with fellow acrylic enthusiasts, allowing them to immerse themselves in the creativity and camaraderie of the art world. Additionally, students will have the valuable opportunity to engage in constructive discussions about their own work and critique others’ pieces during classroom sessions.

This class is designed for beginners as well as those looking to further their skills in creating art with acrylics. The unique painting style of each artist is what makes their work stand out. In this class, students will explore various painting styles and practice acrylic painting techniques. We’ll cover color mixing, composition, under-painting, and paint application techniques. Students will have the opportunity to develop their own personal painting style and interpret original subjects using acrylic paint. The class will include teacher demonstrations and individual instruction time. You are encouraged to use your own photos as a reference, but you can also use images from free websites.

Scholarships cannot be processed without the most recent Federal Income Tax forms showing Total Household Income. Please block out Social Security Numbers.

  • There are no refunds for class cancellations & funds may not be transferred to a different class or session.
  • There are no makeup classes.
  • Children must be age 6 & have attended kindergarten to register for Terrific Tuesdays, Thrilling Thursdays and KidsArt.
  • Staff & instructors at Herrig Center will not be responsible for administering over-the-counter or prescription drugs to students.
  • In fairness to all, disruptive behavior will not be tolerated during camp for any reason. We reserve the right to ask a parent/guardian to remove their child from Herrig Center without benefit of a refund or monies paid for any/all camp sessions.
  • Drop off of your child is no earlier than 8:45am.  If enrolled in aftercare, pick up time is no later than 5:00pm.
  • Personal items such as music devices, cell phones, etc. are not permitted in class.
