Art Matters: 2022 Giving Challenge

Thanks to everyone who donated to the ArtCenter for the 2022 Giving Challenge. Thanks to your generosity and the match from The Patterson Foundation, we raised $33,910.

Our Theme for the Giving Challenge is Art Matters. Art helps us to connect to ourselves and others and to think creatively. It increases engagement and reduces drop out rates. It exposes us to the world around us through visual stories that invite us to think differently and engage with others. Art knows no boundaries. Not race, religion, gender, economics, age, or experience, allowing all people to connect across cultures.

Art drives economic development and makes our community an exciting, engaging and fun place to be.

Through our classes, exhibits, handmade gift shop and events, Art Matters every day at Herrig Center for the Arts. We ask you to support us in the 2022 Giving Challenge knowing the difference art has and will continue to make in our lives and in the life of our community.

The Giving Challenge is presented by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to inspire informed giving in our region. Manatee Community Foundation is a proud partner

Thanks to The Patterson Foundation, a 1:1 match will be provided for all donations from $25 to $100 per unique donor per organization, made online with a credit or debit card. You can do a lot of good and have your charitable contributions doubled!

Herrig Center for the Arts will be one of over 700 non-profits from a 4 county area participating. We’ll be talking a lot about the Giving Challenge in the next few weeks. Our theme is Art Matters and we invite our members and friends to share with us why art matters to them, and why Herrig Center for the Arts is important in our community.
Your support makes it possible to:
  • keep art accessible by allowing us to hold exhibits that are free and open to the public
  • make a difference in the lives of young artists through our KidsArt programming, which extends to community groups like Just for Girls and the Boys & Girls Club
  • offer quality instruction in many mediums in quality studios and for competitive fees
  • expand our programming
  • hold monthly receptions for our exhibits, free and open to the public, with complimentary appetizers and drinks
  • bring national and regional exhibits like the American Watercolor Society, Oil Painters of America and Southern Watercolor Society to our community, exposing our residents and visitors to high-caliber art
  • offer a market to over 2,000 local, regional and national artists in our galleries
  • offer a market to over 100 artists in the artisan market, sales from which offset the cost of classes and support the local economy
  • support over 45 visual arts instructors who are independent contractors
  • return 1.7 million dollars to the local economy
  • be the premier visual arts center in Manatee County offering exhibits, education and an artisan market, keeping true to our mission and making art accessible to all

Herrig Center for the Arts has earned the Guidestar Platinum Transparency Seal. Now, you can support our work with trust and confidence. View our profile: https://www.guidestar.org/profile/59-0967824
